Show Me a Sign LORD, Just Not That One

▵ "SHOW ME A SIGN LORD, TELL ME WHAT TO DO ⎯ " How often we go before Jesus with these words. We turn around to face some situation & realize that we cannot do it on our own, we need help. Help that only a great and powerful God can give. We ask Him for guidance, for wisdom, for strength, for a SIGN. We wait impatiently for His response, those gentle words felt deep within, or those quiet echoes in the back of our minds. The sign that this is the right way, or the wrong way ⎯ but once the LORD gives us this requested sign, we go "heck NO, aaaaaaany sign but that! Give me a DIFFERENT sign." This little problem that mankind has of not liking God's first sign/first words, goes all the way back to Adam & Eve in the garden of Eden. It went on to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, to kings, to prophets, the 12 disciples, and all the way to the 21st century - to you and me. Why is this? Why do we constantly rebut the sign that we so desperately asked for? In perfect honesty, I think it's because we want to be the one's in control. We want to make the decisions. We don't actually want God's sign ⎯ we want God to show us our sign. What we want. ISN'T THAT IT? Isn't that the problem right there? If we don't like God's answer, we ask for a different one, and if we hate that one, we ask again. God is constantly giving the same answers & same signs because He is a God that never changes. He is not going to change His purpose for you just because you ask Him to. He is not going to change His answer just to satisfy you. Why then, dear readers, do we expect Him to? We are not in control. We are not the authors of our life. We are not God. We are God's people, His beloved, His children, His whole heart - don't ya think He has the best things in mind for you? Don't you think that He is doing what's best for you? Don't you think He wants the best for you?

Don't question the LORD's ways, the LORD's signs ━ they are so perfect! So right! They are just for you. We must stop facing the signs we want to see, and start turning towards the real one. The one God has been trying to show us for so long. The sign we've designated ourselves, may not be the sign God has designated for us. We must quit setting our sights for the fake pearls when Christ is trying to hand us the real ones. His ways are so much higher than ours. His plans so great, to prosper us and not to harm us. We need only trust in Him. Don't forget that, you & you & you. Keep your eyes and ears open for that sign you've been asking for ━ keep listening and keep looking for God's voice, not your own. For His signs are so much greater than our own. When you pray, let God speak. Give Him a chance to speak. Let Him fill you with His wisdom & voice of truth.
